(The Devonian Rocks of Thurso) - 2003
The Devonian Caithness Flags at Thurso
are rich in fish remains. West of Thurso, the Caithness
May Beds are well exposed, the Caithness Nodule bed
yields superb complete fish but these are quite rare.
At the East of Thurso, the Ham-Scarfskerry Beds yield
a vast amount of fish remains from Asmussia murchisoniana,
Thursius Sp., Dipterus valenciennesia, Homosteus milleri
& Dickosteus threiplandi. Further West the Latheron
Subgroup followed by the Spittal Beds are well exposed.
