LOCATION
Bempton is clearly signposted. Follow the RSPB reserve signs. There is a large car park and an information centre. The beach is not accessible, to access the foreshore you need a very low tide and a long walk which makes this too dangerous for collecting. |

(Bempton cliffs) - 1994
Bempton is famous for the Puffins and other birds that make this coastline special. Maybe the reason this coastline is so popular for wildlife is because human activity is limited as the sea hits most of the coastline constantly, and is therefore impossible to access the cliff. The chalk is upper and some of the best exposed beds are here. It is too dangerous to try to collect from Bempton, even if you gained beach access in neap tides, there is a risk of rocks falling from birds nesting in the cliff and you would have to walk miles.

EQUIPMENT
Access is almost impossible at this location and not recommended, however the famous puffins make a spectacular visit. Don't forget the binoculars. |

SAFETY AND DANGERS
Common sense when collecting at all locations should be taken and knowledge of tide times should always be noted. This part of the coastline is very dangerous for tidal conditions, make sure you return before the tide turns. Please do not venture during the bird breading season. Keep WELL away from these extremely high cliffs, rock falls are very common. Hard Hats are essential. Keep away from the cliff edge when watching the birds. |
