Radstock, well known as a mining village with houses build for the workers. The Carboniferous coal measures are full of well preserved fossil plants. Although all quarries are now closed and overgrown, there are still a few locations were collecting fossil plants is productive.



Location Information

The plants at Radstock are very well preserved and plentiful. The only problem is that you have to dig for them because the disused quarry is now overgrown.

(Not suitable for families)

Because this location requires work to unearth the plants, this location is not suitable for families.

Access to this location is easy providing you follow the detailed directions on the 'Location Access' page, remember this quarry is quite overgrown with trees but look out for

Quarry (Disused)

This quarry is disused, most of the area is covered in spoil heaps which are now overgrown. Beneath the surface are plant remains waiting to be uncovered. It may look like just another old disused overgrown quarry which 'once' produced good specimens, but it still does produce those good specimens providing you work for them.
