Fossil Hunting in Cheshire

There is one location in Cheshire that is excellent for Carboniferous plants, offering some of the best well preserved plants in the UK. This is Offerton, but the actual site can be difficult to find. The area is a small cutting along a river.

Offerton is superb for fossil ferns and roots and trunks. These can be found in a small river cutting. The specimens are very well preserved. The 'brownish' leaves are much more clearer to see here than most other 'carboniferous plant' locations.
