Moel Findeg is a small but very prominent hill on the eastern edge of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Corals, brachiopods and crinoids can be found in spoil which is regulary turned over as it is used by local farmers for farm tracks. Access is fully permitted.

There are three sites at Burnley Hill, giving opportunity to collect carboniferous corals and brachiopods from a small cutting, scree slopes and hillside. There is plenty to be found here, and it makes a fantastic day out. It is within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Surrounding the massive working limestone quarry just outside of Halkyn are many smaller disused workings and old piles of waste material. In places, good quality brachiopods, corals and crinoidal limestone can be found.

Carboniferous Limestone scenery heaven! About a mile north of Llangollen, the Eglwyseg escarpment presents some really fantastic views. What’s more, among the huge amount of scree that covers its scarp slope, fossil brachiopods and corals can be found.

From the portion of the Glyndwr's Way walk that passes through the woods on Gallt yr Ancr hill, west of Meifod, fossiliferous sandstone blocks can be collected. These, when split, can yield excellent brachiopod fossils.

A pretty walk above Prestatyn and the chance of finding a few Carboniferous Limestone fossils. On a sunny day this location is idyllic, even if the finds can be few and far between.

Occasional coral fossils can be found at the pretty location of Red Wharf Bay. Brachiopods and crinoid pieces also occur. Finds are low however.
